Who are we?

We are Mimi and J.B. Hiller, but many of you already know us from Mimi's Cyber Kitchen, the largest independent food and cooking website, and the first food portal on the Internet.

A little bit about our history...

In 1980, we bought our first computer, an Apple ][ with 16 whole K of RAM, which we upgraded immediately to 48K.  Wow...who needed that much RAM in those days.  Of course, nobody had disk drives back then, so we're really talking about the "cave days" of computers.

One of the first things we did was sign up with The Source, one of the first telecommunications companies...and then with Micronet (which was forced to change it's name to Compuserve soon after).  You might say we were pioneers in the days before the Internet became so popular.

Several years later, we moved to an area that did not have a local access phone number to dial in, so we gave up on it for a while.  In the late 1980's, when Prodigy came about, we signed up for that, but we only stayed online with them for a couple of years.  We were also with a few other telecommunications company briefly, but found most of them unsatisfying.

Then came the Internet boom.  In 1994, as soon as local Internet access was available to us, we signed up.  The web was still relatively small in those days, but we enjoyed surfing and sharing links to sites on various topics with friends.

Mimi discovered how well suited the Internet was to her favorite hobby, food, so when she started a small website called The "Over the Hill"-ers Page, she began to build a food and recipe page with a few links to other sites, as well as some of the family's favorite recipes.  This quickly grew...or should we say, it outgrew the site.

By 1995, we opened our own domain, which we called Mimi's Cyber Kitchen, and the expansion was swift.  That site now houses several thousand links, three recipe archives which contain tens of thousands of recipes, cookbook reviews, a food chat line, a recipe exchange board, a separate section on holidays called Holiday Central, recipe greeting cards you can send to friends and family, kitchen hints, several search engines, and an information file to help you find anything you want on the web.

Each month, more than a million people spend countless hours on Mimi's Cyber Kitchen and the RecipeCircus, looking for information about food, seeking specific recipes or searching for menu ideas, sharing recipes or just chatting about food...and spreading the word.

So, how did mimimart.come about?

We happen to live in a part of the U.S. where we can easily find just about any food products you could ever want.  Thousands of people have written to us over the last five years, but we quickly learned that most aren't as fortunate as we are, and they have turned to the Internet as a source for many difficult-to-obtain items.

After much careful thought on the matter, we decided that there was a definite need for this service.  So we pooled our talents and have been working very hard on building our little shoppe as a way to thank everyone for their support and to bring the very finest foods, ingredients, and equipment.

We currently have a small inventory, but have plans to add some wonderful things we know you will love, and we're always on the lookout for interesting items.  If you have a special need or something you'd like to see offered, let us know.  Or if you offer a product that might fit here, write us.
